William "Bill" McDermott is a survivor of the undead apocalypse.
Biography[]
About a year after the zombie outbreak, Bill is one of the remnants of the US military hiding out with several others in the Seminole Storage Facility while zombies overrun the surface world.
When an insane and wounded Miguel comes to them one day, John and Bill attempt to defend Miguel from Rhodes and his men. When Rhodes declares that the specimens are to be destroyed tomorrow, Sarah breaks down, but is comforted by John. Rhodes later has Sarah and McDermott lowered into the zombie-infested caves.
Evading the zombie hordes, Bill and Sarah, joined by John, leave the complex through the silo, and, pursue by a large horde of zombies, narrowly escape aboard the helicopter to a mysterious island.
The Living Dead (novel) revealed that at an unknown point in time, William and his companions died and returned as zombies.
Trivia[]
- Bill's comment in the conference room that "All the shopping malls are closed," is a reference to the previous movie, Dawn of the Dead, which took place in a mall.
- A running gag in the movie is Bill exclaiming "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" when frightened or excited.
