Tom was one of the people who were trapped by a horde of zombies in a Pennsylvanian farm house during the early stages of the undead apocalypse.
He serves as one of the two tritagonists of Night of the Living Dead, alongside Harry Cooper in the same film.
Biography[]
Night of the Living Dead[]
When the undead outbreak occurred, Tom and his girlfriend, Judy joined with Harry, Helen and Karen Cooper and hid in the cellar of a Pennsylvanian farmhouse.
When Tom and Harry finally emerge from the cellar, they find two more survivors, Ben and Barbara there. The group bickers, with Harry insisting that they should barricade themselves in the cellar and wait for help, and Tom agreeing with Ben.
Later, when the group discovers that the nearby town of Willard is being used as a refugee station, and that their attackers are the recently dead brought back to life, they devise a plan to refuel Ben's truck outside and escape to Willard.
Ben, Tom and Judy go out to refuel Ben's truck and escape to Willard, but Tom accidentally splashes some fuel over the truck and Ben's torch, setting the truck aflame. As Tom tries to get Judy out of the burning pickup, the truck explodes, killing them both.
Tom and Judy's charred remains are devoured by the zombie hordes shortly after.
Trivia[]
- Through out Night of the Living Dead, Tom is potrayed as the most valuable member of the entire group. Tom is selfless, more level-headed than Ben and doesn't let his fear get to him like Harry. He also have a large knowlegde about the group location. Tom also attempts to keep the group together, his death is the ultimate cause for Ben and Harry breakdown.
