Private Juan Torrez is a survivor of the zombie apocalypse.
Biography[]
About a year after the zombie outbreak, Torrez is one of the remnants of the US military hiding out with several others in an underground complex while zombies overrun the surface world. There, Torrez grows marijuana plants. In the opening scene at the complex, he is shown watering his plants shirtless. The most handsome of the group, his smooth muscular body was a touch of beefcake for the film. It also had the zombies drooling and smacking their lips.
One day, when Rhodes, Torrez and the others discover that Dr. Logan is feeding Bub Miller and Johnson's remains, they lower Sarah and Bill into the zombie-infested caves and try to force John to fly them to safety in the helicopter. However, at that moment, Miguel raises the elevator onto the surface, allowing John to knock Torrez and Rhodes out and escape with their weapons.
Torrez's death
Later, Rhodes and Torrez awaken and find that they, along with the rest of the remaining soldiers, are stuck in the complex with no means of escape. However, the elevator comes down, carrying a horde of zombies, which proceed to swarm the complex. Rhodes leaves Torrez and the others to fend for themselves, causing the trio to attempt to run to the other side of the mine. Torrez ends up being separated from Steel and Rickles and attempts to maneuver on wooden planks to evade the zombies. Unfortunately, this ends up being fatal when he stops to check his surroundings, gets jumped by a zombie, tries to jump out of the way and lands on a plank, where zombies surround him. The crowd of zombies then start to rip his head off, causing Torrez to scream loudly, his voice growing higher as his vocal cords are stretched until his head is fully torn off. Then what they had been waiting for, they start munching on his beautiful torso.
